"Culture Bubbles"
Woodlawn Preschool wanted a sign that showed their logo, which was painted on the short side of the fence by the door, and also an image that would celebrate the many cultures that are found in the Battle Creek area. To make this happen, Kimber created the concept of a little girl blowing huge bubbles, some of which would reflect 9 area cultures.
The cultures depicted include German, African, American Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Guatemalean, and Burmese. The bubble circles were traced and the solid colored balls were painted by a team of volunteers, including Woodlawn's executive director and members of the board, along with teachers, parents, and some children. |
