"Opening New Worlds"

Championing an important community cause, literacy, through public art.  This installation highlighted March as Reading Awareness Month, and showcased multiple forms of literacy. It provided opportunities for diverse groups and individuals to sponsor, host and participate in myriad programs that promoted literacy year-round.  The exhibit - - a life-sized campfire scene made of book sculptures and a papier-mâché campfire, provided community literacy resources and also put the spotlight on reading, life skills, arts & culture, financial, health, technology, and workplace literacy at the Lakeview Square Mall (between Barnes & Noble and Dunham’s Sporting Goods) from March 15 through April 15, 2013.

The exhibit is now roving, both as a whole exhibit and as individual pieces, to continue to support literacy awareness.

Approximately 50 organizations, schools, government reps, and businesses participated in this effort.
