"Kaleidoscope Garden" fence muralPainting started with the application of primer by 25 area high schoolers during the 2017 Youth Day of Caring at the beginning of May.
Kimber spent some time painting on the outlines of Michigan flowers, creating an "adult coloring book" look to the fence. Then community came together during a 2-day painting spree to paint the base coat of colors, which Kimber painted final details over. It took 45 hours to prime the fence (it was REALLY thirsty wood) and 53 hours to trace the design on and paint the white letters. The color portion took 99 hours (68 for the initial base coat layer and 31 hours for Kimber to put finishing touches on it). Altogether, 197 hours of labor went into this project. |
