"Great Minds"
The Kingman Museum does an annual exhibit called "Great Minds" and they wanted a mural to go along with their other items.
This mural depicts Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Leonardo da Vinci, and Madame Curie, along with some of their more famous quotes (all hand painted, no vinyl letters here!). The pictures are all unique. For Albert Einstein, Kimber combined a photo that showed his wild hair with the famous photo of him sticking his tongue out. Thomas Edison holds an Edison bulb, quite different than the bulb in the original photograph. Madame Curie's body and equipment are taken from a movie that depicts her life, but the face and hair are all her own! And Leonardo is famous for many things, including the "Ratio Man" with circle and square that serves as the base for this image. Kimber put Leonardo's plane invention in his hand. She also changed the face to that of the Mona Lisa (his most famous painting) on one side, and his face as an old man on the other. There is a theory that the Mona Lisa was a self portrait, and this dual-face depicts that theory. |
